love nest designs

My Mom-Mom gave me my very first sewing machine for my birthday last October and when I moved in with Nick I decided I really needed to buckle down and learn how to use it. I am so glad I did, sewing is my favorite hobby! I love learning lots of new crafts to make.

Since I started making different creations (many of which I wear to work), I had people asking if I sold any of it. I didn't at first but then I thought, why not? If I can get paid for something I love to do then I'll keep up with it!

I started up love nest designs on etsy, have a peek! I just recently made some more rosette necklaces, zipped pouches in several different sizes and some new tote bags including a quilted fabric tote so be sure to check back soon to see the new additions:o)

Here are some of my favorites:

Wedding Style Sneak Peek!

As you all know, Nick and I are engaged to be married. We would like a spring, May wedding and are leaning towards 2013 so that we can have a nice long engagement and be able to enjoy our time together before the wedding planning starts.

We did however head over to Barnes and Noble the day after he proposed to buy the ever so popular wedding binder. I must say, there is a lot to look forward to!

Ever since I was a little girl, I knew what my dream wedding would be. A rustic but elegant country wedding that has a Shabby Chic style to it. We would love to get married in the little white wooden church that my Mom-Mom attends (its so simple but beautiful, its literally on a dirt road overlooking the countryside).

Here is a sneak peek of some things I have in mind (all pictures are from the Knot with the exception of my sketch):

a weathered window frame to showcase family wedding pictures of our relatives
a dress that I started to sketch, I can't give out too many details of what I'm looking for (Nick reads my blog!)

the church has pews with doors on the end of each, these would be pretty to reserve for family

I think our flower girl would look precious in this:o)

Our wedding colors are going to be pink and green (my favorite colors). It will be perfect for spring, especially with peonies being our flowers!

how pretty is this wedding cake!?

reception centerpieces, I love moss in the springtime

(and yes, this is Turtle Island-a place that we both want to go to someday, even if its in our dreams!)

20 Questions

I got tagged to answer these questions through an email and thought it would make for some fun blog posts, so here it goes...

1. If you have pets, do you see them as merely animals or are they members of your family?
I was blessed to have had a great dog, Princess, who was taken from my Dad in a custody battle during his divorce. She was adorable and such a sweet puppy. Always in my heart<3

I also have a dog named Trainer, and Bentley who live with my Mom and they are also great dogs. I absolutely consider them to be family members.
Trainer <3

2. If you could have a dream come true, what would it be?
My dream of marrying Nick will come true in May of 2013:o)

3. What would you do with a million dollars?
I would pay for our wedding (I think my Dad would love this! lol!), honeymoon (we want to go to Italy), and save the rest.

4. What helps to pull you out of a bad mood?
Nick, reggae music, the smell of coconut and the sun (I've obviously got Jamaica on my brain!)

5. What is your bedtime routine?
I love taking a shower or bath before bed, it helps to unwind. I love being clean and climbing into a nice comfy bed. As corny as it sounds, Nick and I watch either American Pickers or Pawn Stars together before we fall asleep.

6. What activities did you do in high school? If you could go back, would you do the same stuff or would you do something different?
I was a cheerleader since the age of 6. I would absolutely do that all over again if I could. Those were some of the best years of my life, some of my best friends were met by being on the same team.

7. What kind of books do you read?
Just about everything. Here are some of my fav authors:
Mystery/Suspence: James Patterson, Dan Brown
Chick Lit: Sophie Kinsella, Nora Roberts
Non-fiction: Malcolm Gladwell
Fiction: Jodi Picoult

8. How do you see yourself in 10 years?
Well, I'll be 36 and married, wow!
I hope to be a mom and still enjoying my career.

9. What's your fear?
Snakes of every kind and dying.

10. Would you give up all junk food for the rest of your life for the opportunity to see outer space?
ABSOLUTELY! Outer space fascinates me.

11. What's the first thing you do when you wake up?
If I'm working I get dressed, moisturize my face and brush my teeth.
If I'm off I lay in bed, read then get up and start getting ready.

12. If you could change one thing about your significant other, what would it be?
Not a thing:o)

13. If you could pick a new name for yourself, what would it be?
When I was younger I always thought I didn't like my name because no one else had it. Now I love knowing that there aren't that many Angela's in the world! I feel more unique! Plus, I think I def look like an Angela.

14. If you had to choose between six months of sun or six months of rain, what would you choose?
Sun of course! I live for sunny days.

15. If you could only eat one thing for the next 6 months, what would it be?

19. Name 3 things on your bucket list
Travel to Italy and Ireland, become a wife and mother, go skydiving

20. What do you watch on television that you know you shouldn't?
I don't watch tv all that much, so I certainly don't watch anything trashy. I'd say the news, as sad as that sounds! It's so depressing, it gives me anxiety!

I tag all of you, play along!

Book Club Update: Little Bee

We have started a book club at work, and a great big thanks goes to Starbucks for funding this for us!

This month we are reading Little Bee by Chris Cleave and I must say, I am very excited to read this novel. It's about a white British magazine editor and a Nigerian black woman, loving called Little Bee, who meet under unfortunate circumstances. Little Bee and her sister live on a valuable plot of Nigerian oil deposits and must pay the price to reside there. Sarah O'Rourke, the British writer, is faced with a choice to either save Little Bee and her family or allow them to continue to live their lives in danger.

The Washington Post claims this book will "blow you away". I am starting it today, so I will give you my feedback when I am done!

Are you reading a great book right now? Do share!

Neely has reached 500 followers on her blog, make sure you hop on over to enter in her giveaway! She has a big surprised planned:o)

Take a Deep Breath, Spring is Here

Take a deep breath, inhale, smell the springtime scent...aah, its the best.
Call me crazy but I have been SO anxious to open up my windows and let the fresh air in without having to have slippers and a sweatshirt on. I am happy to say that I am sitting in my big comfy chair in a tank top with my windows open and I am in heaven.

There are birds singing outside, I wish I could record them because they sound so sweet.

It was a beautiful day here in VA, the sun was shining and it has been getting warmer and warmer each day. HELLO SPRING! The only downside to living in VA is that we don't have a Rita's Water Ice to get our free water ice on the first day of Spring. For a Philly girl, this is a BIG bummer. I need my fix!

I did my fair share of spring cleaning today. I managed to pack up my cable knit sweaters and flannel pj's and bring out the sundresses and tank tops, yea!!! I got myself organized and dusted all of the winter blues away!

What are you doing to get ready for spring??
