I'm always told that I've got "my head in a book", and that phrase could not be more fitting!
I love to learn new things, especially through reading.
I try to read 1-2 books a month, and I am not leading a book club through work.
This month we read "Little Bee" by Chris Cleave, it was excellent and I HIGHLY recommend it. The author leaves you hanging at the end, only to allow you think for yourself about what you think the possible ending would be. As much as I don't care for authors who do that (I like closure, including happy endings) this author did it in a way that most could not.
This month we are reading "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett, a pick for Oprah's book club as well!

The Help is a story about three completely different women who come together to work on a project that will put themselves at risk. Based in 1962 Mississippi, they are all determined to start a movement to "forever change their town".
Stay tuned for my thoughts when I'm finished!
Also, I am currently reading a book that was nonchalantly given to me by a friend of mine at work. She read this book and swears it changed her life for the best. I thought it was interesting just for the simple fact that it was written by Candace Cameron Bure, fondly known as "DJ" in Full House!
Have you read it? Thoughts?

Enjoy your weekend!!

That is SO funny! I am just finishing "Little Bee" and "The Help" is my next one or two. A friend of mine recommended it to me, and she does not live in VA, but now I am wondering if there is a similar book club somewhere else, haha:o)
ReplyDeleteI loved the Help. :) Can't wait to hear what you think about it. And Little Bee will be put on my to-read list. :) And probably Reshaping it All could be fun, and interesting too. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing girl.

someone else just recommended I read Reshaping it All. I heard it's really good.. part motivational, part spiritual, and then somewhat of an autobiograpy as well. If you read it you will have to let me know what you think!
ReplyDeleteThe Help is soooo good. The movie looks like a really good rendition as well-- can't wait to see it this summer!
