From the Desk of Carrie Bradshaw...

Many of you know that I absolutely LOVED the show Sex and the City and I was devastated when they finished the last movie. I was so excited to hear that they are filming a second movie for the girls:o)

I think so many girls have this connection to Carrie because her character was so believeable. She went through many of the same experiences as the everyday girl would go through. Carrie Bradshaw was a wonderful writer who not only told stories about sex and relationships but the addictions that women today are faced with...shoes and fashion.

Here are some of my FAVORITE quotes from Carrie, ones that I constantly refer to:

“Maybe mistakes are what make our fate... without them what would shape our lives? Maybe if we had never veered off course we wouldn't fall in love, have babies, or be who we are. After all, things change, so do cities, people come into your life and they go. But it's comforting to know that the ones you love are always in your heart... and if you're very lucky, a plane ride away”

"I'm looking for love. Real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can't-live-without-each-other love. And I don't think that love is here in this expensive suite in this lovely hotel in Paris."

"No matter who broke your heart, or how long it takes to heal, you'll never get through it without your friends."
"I've spent $40,000 on shoes and I have no place to live? I will literally be the old woman who lived in her shoes!"

Carrie: "How about I read you a little bit of my favorite poetry?” Aleksandr : “Please.”
Carrie [Reads from Vogue]: “Cocktails at Tiffany’s calls for classic charm. Oscar de la Renta sleeveless silk full skirted dress with black patent leather bow belt.” Now that is pure poetry.”

"We're so over, we need a new word for over."

Carrie: "Your girl is lovely Hubble." Big: "I don't get it," Carrie: "And you never will."

“But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.”

Carrie: "So really, we're getting married?" Big: "We're getting married. Should we get you a diamond?" Carrie: "No. No. Just get me a really big closet."

"Though still in bed, my thoughts go out to you, my Immortal Beloved, now and then joyfully, then sadly, waiting to learn whether or not fate will hear us ...
Yes, I am resolved to wander so long away from you until I can fly to your arms and say that I am really at home with you, and can send my soul enwrapped in you into the land of spirits ...
No one else can ever possess my heart - never - never - Oh God, why must one be parted from one whom one so loves ... Your love makes me at once the happiest and the unhappiest of men ...
My angel, I have just been told that the mailcoach goes every day - therefore I must close at once so that you may receive the letter at once ...
Be calm - love me - today - yesterday - what tearful longings for you - you - you - my life - my all - farewell. Oh continue to love me - never misjudge the most faithful heart of your beloved.

Ever thine,

Ever mine,

Ever ours."
... The Immortal Beloved Letters, Ludwig van Beethoven

"Not-Me" Mondays

This weekend I did not have way too much fun with my cousins and Rob, we did not stay up until 4:45 am by just hanging out and talking. I did not proceed to work two doubles in a row and not complain about how bad my feet hurt because I was standing on them for 10 or 11 hours straight at a time. No, not me. I also did not make Rob go to Wawa and get me coffee towards the end of my shift on Sunday because I was so miserable that I was up so late the night before. No DEF not me. As a result of this, I did not go to bed at 9:15 Sunday night and wake up at 9:00 the next morning.

I did not say goodbye to my Great Grandmother. She will remain in my prayers and in my heart, just as all the other loved ones who I have lost so far in my life. I did not eat a wonderful Polish dinner with my family, made by my mom in honor of her. I did not eat pierogies thinking to myself, "man I love being Polish". I did not dance with my family in our living room to songs that we all grew up to, it was not odd but very enjoyable at the same time.

I did not go to my little brother's last football game as a junior today. I, once again, was NOT the loudest one in the stands. One of his teammates did not turn around, look at me, look back at the coach and say "wow, she's totally our #1 fan". NOT me at all:o) NOT a proud big sister, NOT a cheerleader still in the slightest bit:o) I did not proceed to yell at the refs because they made a few bad calls, including the one that basically lost them the game. I did not give Brendan a HUGE kiss on the cheek in front of his team after they lost and say, "I'm SO proud of you". They did not slap him on the back and say "Damn Kuhny your sister really loves you". I was not really happy that he turned around, looked at me and said "yeah, she's really awesome" and smiled. I did NOT almost cry because of this. I am NOT taking Brendan and his friend Dylan to GameStop at midnight to get the new Call of Duty game. I am NOT doing this because he thinks that I'm the best big sister ever:o)

I did not get a call from my cousin today, telling me she is offically pregnant with her first child. I did not get really excited to think that I'm going to be an honorary "aunt" and tell her that I am going to plan her baby shower with her sister. I did not get way too excited and research cute shower ideas as soon as I hung up the phone.

I did not decide that I want my Christmas tree early this year for me to decorate in my basement, I did not tell myself that I am going to buy one as soon as I see the first tree lot out.

I did not start making Christmas shopping lists for gifts I need to buy, OR make an online wish list for myself:o) NO WAY

I also did not get excited when I realized that it is in fact, Monday and not only do I get to blog about things I did "not" do but I get to actually put my feet up after a long weekend and do absolutely nothing. "Not" a thing. Happy Monday everyone:o)

Thank God It's FINALLY Friday!

I went to bed at 4:25 am last night due to my increasing obsession with Skype and my lack of concentration towards my schoolwork. However I did wake up this morning with a big smile on my face because IT'S FRIDAYYY!!! Weekends are not typical for me only because they are the busiest parts of my week. I work double shifts on Saturdays and Sundays and try to get myself caught up on way too many to-do lists.

I just recently noticed that I have a pretty strange habit of making way too many to-do lists. I have post-it notes, index cards, notecards filled with numbers and tasks of things that I feel I must complete every single day. My days are always on the run and I've convinced myself that they will keep me on track.

This weekend will be filled with family time, which you may be bored of hearing it, but I can't get enough of my family. They have become such a constant rock in my life that I just always feel the need to surround myself with them. I must say too, I have such an amazing family, I am so blessed:o) My grandparents (mom's parents) are coming up from North Carolina this weekend due to my great grandmother's (mom's grandmother) funeral Monday am. I absolutely hate funerals but it's always a chance to see people who you haven't seen for months, even years. My grandparents are basically like a second set of parents to me even though they are more like my close friends than anything else. I also get to see my cousins Michael and Jessica (I really miss Lauren but she works her butt off at the horse barn that she works at). They both work at my dad's restaurant and come up to visit and work every couple of weekends. I know during the week that I have to rest up because our Saturday nights will turn into Sunday mornings by the time we are done laughing, talking and catching up<3

I am determined NOT to get the Swine Flu. I have been taking vitamin c pills twice a day, getting lots of rest and using hand sanitizer so much that my hands just constantly smell of ethyl alcohol.

I had my first dose of reality today in regards to the changing seasons. I was grateful to see the sun shining but when pumping gas I had to sit in my car while it finished filling up to keep warm. This is one thing that I DESPISE about fall/winter. That nasty cold wind just needs to go away. I love seeing the colors on the trees but I've also noticed that there are more leaves on the ground now than on the branches of the trees. I broke out my navy blue wool peacoat today and I'm thinking its just about time for my pashmina scarf and gloves as well, but I won't push it:o)

I have been a reading maniac lately. As soon as I finish a book, I pick another one up. I read so much for school (especially as a history major) that I need goofy, sometimes pointless books to read to clear my head a little bit. If anyone has some good suggestions or favorites, please let me know!

I need to get back to my schoolwork but this lady behind me is typing so fast and so loud its almost becoming a distraction (I'm not annoyed). But hey, its 1:35 and in 3.5 hours it will be...HAPPY HOUR!!!!!!!! It's always 5 o'clock somewhere right??? Cheers! Happy Friday everyone:o)

Thankful Thursdays<3

I am thankful for my senior year of college, its been a lot of hard work but I'll be glad to be done. I'm also very thankful for the fact that I can be so independent in college, for example, being able to decide on whether or not I need a mental health day (aka today).

I am thankful that the Phillies made it to the World Series again this year and had the opportunity to challenge the Yankees all the way up to Game 6. They had a great season and they really fought hard. I am thankful for Brett Myers for setting Cole Hamels in his place after the game, so as not to cause drama on national tv, but I will be more thankful when the Phillies never hand Cole Hamels the ball to pitch ever again.

I am thankful for my date nights with my Dad, tomorrow we are going to see the Fourth Kind and hopefully Where the Wild Things Are (but I strongly doubt he'll want to go see that, lol).

I am thankful for being in good health. My great grandmother passed away very early Tuesday morning, she was 90. I am so thankful for having the opportunity to have known both of my great grandmothers for 25 years of my life. Both lived to be in their 90s, that is incredible. I am thankful that I haven't gotten the swine flu (knock on wood)-but I should be thankful for hand sanitizer and vitamin c pills. I am thankful that I am losing weight and my schedule is lighter this semester which allows me to be outside and workout more.

I am thankful for Johnson and Johnson's Baby Bedtime Lotion. I take a hot shower every night before I go to bed and as soon as I put that lotion on, I get super relaxed. As soon as my head hits the pillow, I am out cold. The lotion has lavender and other essential oils in it that help you sleep well through the night and I would highlyyyyyyy recommend it for anyone!

I am thankful for flameless candles. I love curling up on my couch and reading before I go to bed, especially when I light candles, its so relaxing. However, there have been plenty of nights when I woke up and found that I fell asleep and the candles were on...thank god they were battery operated.

I am thankful for www.paperbackswap.com. It is a great website that I saw featured in Real Simple magazine a few years ago, I've been using it ever since. It is a swap program that allows you to list books online that you want to swap with other members and the only thing you pay for is the price of postage to ship the book to them. You get one credit for every book you ship and it only costs one credit to order a book from another member. This prevents me from going into my beloved Barnes and Noble and spending tons of money on books that I will only read once. This also prevents me from going to the library and racking up a bunch of late fees (I've never been good with that).

Finally, I am thankful for Skype. I have been able to keep in touch with so many people who I'm not able to see as often as I'd like. It enables me to see my friends instead of just talking on the phone and hear their voices instead of just a text message. I think I am going to start a once a week tradition of catching up with each of my girlfriends on Skype:o) It's so nice to know they aren't that far away after all<3

"Not-Me" Mondays

This weekend I did not go to my good friends house for a Halloween party. I did not love their decorations in their beautiful home and all of the treats that Jenna made. I did not love the costumes that everyone wore, the couples did a great job. I did not love the party punch that Kaitlin made a little too much that I now know I am making that for my next party:o)

I did not go to a used book sale on campus today to help raise money for a Thanksgiving dinner for underprivledged families in the West Chester area. I did not buy 4 books for $1.25 but instead gave them $10.

I did not drink 4 venti pike place coffees today from Starbucks today. Nothing crazy just simple brewed coffee and I can't get enough of it. I did not take my Aunt Bernie a Chocolate Indulgent Cookie from Starbucks today as a surprise treat. She works in the graduate office on campus and loves when I come in to see her!

I did not go to my brother's football game against West Chester East today. They did not win 27-7, he did not do a great job, once again. I also was not the loudest one in the stands, his dad could not hear me yelling "lets go blue" as he was walking into the stadium.

I did not have my usual Monday night dinner date with my brother after his game, we did not watch the Yanks vs. Phils game together when we got home.

I did not do so much schoolwork tonight that I feel like I am going to fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow tonight. I do not have a case of the mondays.

Why I LOVE Being a Philly Phan:o)

So many of u want to know what happened Thursday night that makes me never want to go back to the Bronx again, ever. Well here u go...

1) despite the history of the old "house that babe built" I never really had a desire to go to Yankee stadium, but since they re-built a new stadium for the Yankees I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I was sooooo disappointed! They have sections of bleachers instead of actual seats, the speed trap reading is on the jumbotron SO small u have to squint to read it, and worst of all, unless ur sitting behind home plate...ur view of the field most likely sucks.

2) To buy a tshirt or a hat you must walk up to the counter of geriatrics that have no idea what sizes r left. There are boxes everywhere in a complete disarray and after spending hundreds of dollars on apparel, they run out of bags. Excellent.

3) They serve nathans hot dogs in boxes which not only is a waste but pointless because after returning to your seat ur hot dog will inevitably be...cold. **only in New York would they put the number of calories on the menu next to each item!! Hilarious!** New Yorkers feast on things such as garlic fries, pizza and matza balls so not only do they have lack of better judgement in food, they have really bad breath.

3) Drunk girls in New York=sloppy. I had a girl behind me spill her beer all over the place and proceed to slur her words for most of the game until she got thrown out. Come on down to Philly, not only can a Philly girl handle her liquor but she is much more beautiful than any New Yorker:o)

4) Citizens Bank Park is a beautiful ballpark, it really is. WELL worth the money we spent on it. Not to mention it doesn't smell like a toilet like Yankee Stadium does. We take pride in the fact that our stadium was built for our fans, giving them a wide open view from any seat in the house.

5) In Philadelphia we take our sports a little bit more serious than these Yankee amateurs. We tailgate at least 3-4 hours before gametime, we DONT come to the games dressed in suits, peacoats and ties.
We also don't run out of beer a half hour after we get to the parking lot that charges $30 for parking.

6) Do your research. We know our competition. Don't yell out "Jayson Werthless" when u know he has had a great postseason and has become one of the most improved players. Don't yell out "Whose your daddy" to Pedro when you know damn right well you weren't yelling that out when your beloved CC shit the bed and Cliff Lee took over your precious stadium. And u know what, u might as well make some more signs for Jeter because aside from Teixeria and Matsui I didn't see A-Roid doing anything that was worth screaming about.

7) Lastly, have a little self respect as a city. What I saw Thursday night was classless and down right ignorant. I saw brass knuckles bashing into peoples heads, girls getting black eyes and others with blood all over their faces. Is that what you think baseball is about? Then again I'd be miserable too if I lived in a city of 30 million who hate each other. We drove away last night I looked down and saw the only thing left on the ground was a dirty Yankees hat with tire marks down the middle.

We're in that ILL state of mind and your empire isn't looking so strong these days. We are PROUD of our city<3
