10 Things You Don't Know About Me

1. I hate cigarettes. I can't stand the smell of them, I hate being around people who smell like smoke and even more, I hate smelling like an ashtray. I am SO glad PA decided to ban smoking in restaurants and (most) bars because now I don't have to worry about going out and ruining my good clothes with cigarette smoke. Yuck.

2. I get aggravated when high schoolers think that school is similar to jail. Obviously, as someone who is a very ambitious soon-to-be teacher, I am determined to change this negative attitude in my students. I have news...college is the best time you will ever experience in your life, HOWEVER, high school prepares you to be successful in college. Believe me when I say that I am so thankful for my high school education. To this day, as a senior, I sit in class and listen to my classmates ignorant responses to my professors questions and think to myself "wow you really didn't give a damn in high school, did you?" Make the best of it while you are there, put forth your best effort in your schoolwork and get involved in as many activities as you can or you will regret it. Wow I sound like a parent.

3. I can't wait to be a mom. I am in NO rush what-so-ever, but I can't wait to have kids of my own. I love being the fun "aunt", cousin, friend, sponsor, sister and I can't get enough of the kids that are in my life. My room is filled with pictures of my family and I feel so very lucky to live so close to them. Seeing children laugh, smile, run and play just puts the biggest smile on my own face and warms my heart<3

4. I love to cook. Believe it or not, I would cook every night if I could. I used to go down to my Mom-Mom's house in the country every Sunday for church and then help her make Sunday dinner for our family. I can't wait to start doing that again with her, she has taught me so much. I enjoy watching the Food Network on tv, my favorite shows are Everyday Italian with Giada DeLaurentis, Barefoot Contessa with Ina Garten and of course, Paula's Home Cooking with the ever-so-wonderful, Paula Deen. Traditional southern foods are my favorite to make such as BBQ Pulled Pork, yummmooo!

5. I really don't like modern day medicine. With all of the diseases and illnesses going around our world its very easy to get caught up in antibiotics and vaccines. For most people, as soon as they start getting a runny nose or scratchy throat, they run to the doctor's office and are usually prescribed an antibiotic. To me its just another pill, its just another script written out by an M.D. I (knock on wood) haven't gotten the Swine Flu and I'm determined that I'm not getting it. I wash my hands ALL the time, I take TONS of vitamin C and I get LOTS of sleep. I try to take a more natural approach to health and healing instead of depending on 21st century chemistry to cure me.

6. Outer space fascinates me. I'm not going to get into a lot of detail with this one because I could go on and on about it but think about it...Earth is only a small part of the amazing solar system that we're a part of. I would love to go to the moon (who wouldn't, right!?) and see what's outside in that big black atmosphere up there.

7. Casablanca is my favorite movie...of all time. I don't know what it is about that movie but ever since I saw it for the first time, I was hooked. Black and white film, Humphrey Bogart, the old fashioned champagne flutes, and my favorite quotes:

Rick: "Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine."

Ilsa: "I love you so much. I hate war so much."

8. I really want to learn how to ice skate, as in this winter. My Pop-Pop gave me a pair of ice skates for Christmas one year and I used them...once. I went to an ice skating rink and fell on my butt and never went again, lol. This year, I want to learn and I really want to ice skate at Rockefeller Center in New York City.

9. I read my horoscope everyday. What's interesting is I get them sent to my phone, as a text each day, and they are always true. It's so bizarre but really cool at the same time. Makes me feel kinda lucky:o)

10. I am currently reading a biography of John F. Kennedy written by Theodore C. Sorensen who was only 24 when he joined Kennedy's special counsel. It really makes you appreciate JFK and understand how inspiring he really was to our nation.

  2. I agree with the modern medicisne thing... i try not to go the dr unless absolutely necessary, and decided against getting the flu shot. (with Betsy working as the office manager for a Drs office, she always trys to convince me to go for the littest things haha)

I would try to help with ice skating thing, but considering I haven't done it in years I don't think I am the right person to teach you ;-) lol
